Sharing and trust
Is my data safe if anyone with the link can edit?
A sheet's link is its key. Links are long random ids that can't be guessed, so only people you share with can find your sheet. Treat a sheet link like you'd treat the file itself, and use the lock if you want to be the only editor.
Can I make a sheet read-only for others?
Yes. Open sheet settings and turn on "Only you can edit". Everyone else with the link can still view the sheet live, but only you can change it.
How many people can edit at once?
Up to 10 people can edit a sheet at the same time. Anyone who joins after that can watch the sheet update live and gets an editing slot as soon as one frees up.
Do other people see my name?
If you're signed in, collaborators see your real name on your cursor. If you're not, you appear under a friendly generated name, and nothing identifies you.
Sheets and limits
Do I need an account?
No. You can create, edit, and share sheets without one. An account keeps your sheets forever, lists them all in one place, and adds folders and bookmarks.
What happens to sheets I make without an account?
They stay live as long as someone visits them. A sheet nobody has opened in six months expires. Sheets owned by an account never expire.
How big can a sheet be?
Up to 50,000 cells and 2 MB of content. There's no separate row or column limit, so a long narrow sheet and a short wide one get the same room.
What file formats can I use?
Import CSV, TSV, or Excel (.xlsx). Every sheet downloads as clean CSV at any time.
Pro and billing
What do I get with Pro?
Unlimited sheets, version history with restore, sheet templates, comments, and API keys for developers. It's $9/month with a 14-day free trial. Compare plans
What happens if I cancel Pro?
Your sheets, folders, and bookmarks are untouched, and your saved versions stay readable. Templates pause until you upgrade again, and sheets that already have comments enabled keep them.
Can I export everything and leave?
Yes, anytime. Settings has a one-click export that downloads all of your sheets as CSV files. Your data is never held hostage.
Privacy and data
Do you track me?
No cookies, no ad trackers, no personal profiles. We use privacy-friendly analytics that count visits without identifying visitors, which is why there's no cookie banner.
What happens when I delete my account?
Your account and every sheet you own are permanently deleted. Export your sheets first if you want to keep them.
For developers
Is there an API?
Yes. Every sheet can be read and edited over plain HTTP, and there's an MCP server so AI agents can work with your sheets too. See the API documentation for examples.
